Getting here & the trip
Where is the Fishcamp?
The lodge is perched on the Ninilchik River, on the Kenai Peninsula, just 3.5 hours south of Anchorage. Ninilchik is neighbor to Deep Creek, home to some of the greatest halibut fishing in Alaska.
How do I get there?
Everyone flies into Anchorage. From there it's a 25-minute hop to Kenai (we pick you up), a beautiful 3.5-hour drive, or a short flight to Homer (we pick you up). See the full route map →
How long is a stay?
A week runs 5pm Sunday to 12pm Saturday, six nights on the river.
How many guests are there?
Eight guests a week, four cozy rooms, two per room.
At the lodge
What's included?
Just about everything: six nights of riverfront lodging, all your meals (a breakfast bar each morning, a boxed lunch for the boat, and lodge dinners), all rods, reels, waders & tackle, the riverview hot tub, and your catch processed & boxed.
Do I need to bring fishing gear?
No, all gear and tackle is provided on every adventure. Bring your lucky hat.
What should I pack?
Layers, foul-weather gear, and the things you depend on. We keep a full packing list ready. Alaska weather shifts fast, pack for it.
Fishing
What will we fish for?
The Ninilchik River carries seasonal salmon, trout and more; Deep Creek and Cook Inlet bring world-class halibut; and the Kenai River runs red with sockeye. We fish from our own little boat for fun and set you up with approved captain friends in Homer and Ninilchik for the big water.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, pick up your fishing license at Fred Meyer on the way down. Get a one-week non-resident license, but do not get a King Stamp unless you mean to fish kings.
How do I get my fish home?
Take a #50 box of fish home as luggage, or ship your catch right to your front door with local FedEx.
Holds, payment & refunds
How do I hold a week?
Pick your week and lock it with a refundable $500-per-room deposit, or pay in full. The deposit comes straight off your trip total.
What if my plans change?
Life happens. Your deposit is fully refundable up to 30 days before your week, just tell us. Inside 30 days we'll do everything we can to make it right, because that's how we'd want to be treated.
How do I pay the balance?
We settle the rest with you directly before or during your stay, no online checkout, no pressure. The hold is the only part that happens online.
Is there a card fee?
A small 3% card processing fee is added at checkout, shown as its own line so there are no surprises.
When should I lock my week?
Sooner is better, not because of us, but because of the airlines. Summer Anchorage airfare climbs and sells out. Pin your dates and grab flights while fares are still low.
