There is no clock at the Lodge, and there is no fixed itinerary either. Some mornings the river is enough, coffee on the deck, a line in the water, the Ninilchik River rumble along while the fog lifts out of the valley. Other mornings you’ll feel Alaska tug at you, wanting to be seen wider. That’s where Joy comes in.
Joy Knepper runs our Adventure Center, and after twenty-five years on the Kenai Peninsula she knows every guide, captain, and back road worth knowing. She’ll sit down with you, hear what you’re after, and put together days that fit your budget and your preferences. Not a package. Yours.
Your pace, your budget
Adventures run anywhere from $25 to $400, so whether you want a full-day charter or a quiet afternoon on the flats, there’s room to build a trip that fits. Come as you are, leave feeling refreshed and renewed.
Here’s some of what Joy can line up for you:
- Glacier hikes & cruises, get out on the water and up against the ice.
- Halibut & salmon charters, out of Deep Creek, home to some of the greatest halibut fishing in Alaska.
- Boat trips to Halibut Cove or Seldovia, across the bay to the little places most people never reach.
- Fly-ins for salmon and bear viewing, wheels-up into God’s backyard.
- Clam digging on the tide flats.
- 4-wheeler trips and horseback riding into the country.
- River fishing for Dolly Varden, trout & salmon, right here at home.
- Canoe trips for the still-water days.
Built around you
You don’t have to figure any of it out ahead of time. Tell Joy what kind of day sounds good, adventurous, easy, somewhere in between, and she’ll handle the rest. Pull up a deck chair or roll a log on over, talk it through, and let her build your days around you.
Be still in Alaska. Then go see it.
